Public Charging

TMC work with fuel card providers who can offer businesses an all round solution for both public electric charging and the purchase of fossil fuels.

TMC’s mileage app, Mileage Track can automatically record every business trip.  Every business trip is audited to ensure compliance with your company policy.  At the end of each month, the driver submits the vehicle’s odometer reading so we can identify any private mileage.  We then overlay charging costs with mileage and provide a payroll file so you can deduct any private mileage costs.

TMC’s fuel card, in partnership with HSBC, can be used at 75% of electric charge points in the UK, meaning employees do not have to pay and reclaim charging costs when using the electric highway.

TMC works with you to select the networks you want to utilise.  We send out communications to help employees register and set up each EV Network Supplier that you choose.

The card is contactless so is perfectly set up for when charging points across Britain offer contactless payment – which the UK government plans to have in place by the end of 2020.

At the moment, there are some electric vehicle charging points that are free to use. However, the rapid and high-powered chargers can entail a fee and require drivers to join a network, like Pod Point, which provide a membership card or a smartphone app to pay for charging their car.

As the card can be used to purchase traditional fuel too (it is accepted at 98% of UK forecourts), it can be used by PHEV and ICE drivers alike, reducing the hassle of drivers moving between combustion engines and electric vehicles.

We also work with Shell, whose fuel card can also be used to pay for both fossil fuels and electric vehicle charging.

The Shell card gives drivers access to a network of more than 2,000 charge points across the Shell Recharge and NewMotion public networks, as well as 3,800 refuelling stations nationwide.

The Shell Recharge app gives users the ability to start, stop and pay for charging, and provides real-time information such as charge point availability, power details and charge point locations.

Other features of the app include notifications telling the user when their favourite charge points become available and estimated duration of the charging session.

NewMotion has an open network agreement with 16 charge point providers, which Shell fuel card customers can use and pay for with one card. Fuel and charging costs will be consolidated into a single invoice.

The cards, coupled with TMC’s unique mileage capture technology, are designed to provide your EV drivers with a hassle free solution for charging on the public highway.  And by splitting business and private mileage, we help you with HMRC compliance and give you visibility over your charging costs.
